The San Miguel Beermen took Game 3 of the 2017 PBA Commissioners Cup Finals, seizing a 2-1 lead over TnT KaTropa. But like game 2, plenty of drama once again ensued before and during the half time break.
SMB’s Chris Ross and TnT’s Ryan Reyes crossed paths with the former confronting the latter regarding a certain play both argued as a dirty play.
“I didn’t think it was a basketball play and he said it was. That was it. Nothing more, nothing less,” said Ross.
“You know, it is just at the heat of the game,” Reyes responded. “Boxing out and all that stuff. Just got physical in there. It is part of the game. Things happen. He thought it was physical and all that stuff.”
Things got more interesting when at the other end of the floor, Ross was sighted to be trash-talking with TnT’s replacement import, Mike Myers and Michael Craig – KaTropa’s Governors Cup import.
“I guess those guys keep talking to me. I don’t know why,” said Ross. “The guy (Michael Craig) told me he was playing next conference.”
“I said, ‘Man, I am not worried about next conference. I’m worried at the game right now’. If that is what he wants to do is talk, he will have his time to back it up.” Ross recalled.
Both imports were seated across the KaTropa bench and were eventually asked to leave the playing court. Instead, both sat behind the TnT bench and continued to watch the game.
“I am just cheering my team,” said Myers. “There was no bad blood. It is just competing. That’s all.” “It is a competitive game. We were just talking back and forth about the game. It was nothing serious.”
Ross never mentioned Myers as the one talking to him. Instead, he pointed out Craig who got into his skin. Regardless, all Ross was concerned about was to play and worry about the Governors Cup next.
“I heard he (Craig) is really a good player, I hope he is,” Ross smirked. “If he is, it is better for our league. It was nothing crazy but I’m focused on winning games here in the finals and not worried about next conference right now.”
With all the tensions flowing in the players involved, Myers, who might suit up for TnT in Game 4, is itching to play and make his PBA debut.
“I am really excited right now,” said Myers. “I want to play so bad. I’m very excited but I am just waiting for my time to come, And when that comes, I’m ready.”
