Ginebra’s high-flying guard Chris Ellis may finally get the needed minutes for him to fully unleash his gravity-defying hardcourt moves.

Today, Ellis is expected to be formally dealt to Blackwater Elite together with dependable banger Dave Marcelo in a straight swap for two quality players.

The Elite, perennial cellar dwellers of the league but has shown marked improvement the last few games, will be giving up sophomore guard Art Dela Cruz and power forward Raymond Aguilar.

Officials from both Ginebra and Blackwater declined to comment on the reported trade but sources claim both teams have already agreed on the deal as papers regarding the agreement are now on its way to the office of league Commissioner Chito Narvasa for approval.

“Ok na, madali naman nag-agree yung teams. I guess they need to let go of those players para lumabas din laro nila. Both teams believe the destination of all players involve will present a new and challenging environment for all of them,” said the source.

This conference, the 29-year-old Ellis has been averaging 3.5 points, 3.5 rebs. and 1.0 assist in six games with Ginebra while playing less than 20 minutes per game.

While those numbers may be considered paltry contributions, Ellis would have a chance to jack up his stats now that he is expected to get major minutes with the Elite, a squad that is bereft of a dependable combo guard.

Ellis will be joining a seemingly inspired squad that is still aching to add some spunk as Blackwater has won three of their last four games in the ongoing season-ending tournament.

Ginebra meanwhile is slowly establishing its roster for the future with the acquisition of the 25-year-old Dela Cruz who was picked 9th overall by the Elite during the 2015 Rookie Draft.

Dela Cruz has averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in two PBA seasons.
