Champ gets inspiring words from idol Pacquiao
While Jerwin Ancajas waits for news about his next fight, the world junior bantamweight champion sounds delighted by the prospect of fighting in the US in early 2018.
Coach Joven Jimenez said Ancajas’ handlers are working to have the Filipino upstart fight in the States following his remarkable sixth round stoppage win over Jamie Conlan in Belfast two weeks ago.
“’Di pa naman talagang confirmed,” explained the trainer.
He said they will get official word from matchmaker Sean Gibbons who will visit the Philippines in two weeks’ time.
Ancajas hopes his US debut materializes soon as he has long dreamed of following the footsteps of his boyhood idol and now his promoter, Manny Pacquiao.
Ancajas also received words of encouragement from Pacquiao during his recent courtesy call to the senator. The former 8-division champion congratulated him for his conquest in Ireland.
The champion said he considers Pacquiao his “big brother.”
