IN THE AIR. JRU is yet to drop back-to-back games in the preseason.
Teytey Teodoro was not letting Jose Rizal University go through its first losing skid in the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.
Waxing hot from start to finish, the fourth-year gunslinger shot the Heavy Bombers over University of Perpetual Help, 70-56, at the Filoil Flying V Centre, Friday.
Teodoro found his range from the get-go and torched the nets to the tune of a total of five triples. “Alam na naman talaga natin ang makukuha natin kay Teytey,” head coach Vergel Meneses expressed in his post-game conference.
In all, JRU’s top gun had 19 points to go along with five assists and five rebounds.
At the other end, Abdel Poutuouchi anchored a defense that suffocated their opponents into 35 percent shooting.
The Cameroonian was also a monster on the glass, hauling in 16 rebounds to add to his nine points and five assists. He was at the forefront of his team’s domination on the boards, 55-38.
With Teodoro and Poutuouchi leading the way, the Bombers bounced back from an 87-95 loss at the hands of Lyceum of the Philippines University last Monday. “At least, we bounced back. The effort was there this time around,” Meneses said.
JRU now stands at an impressive 4-1 in the preseason.
On the other hand, Perpetual was still unable to get a streak going. GJ Ylagan had 13 points to front the effort as they dropped to a 2-3 standing.
