MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines’ Blu Girls ended a four-game skid by defeating world No. 10 Mexico, 4-2, in the World Cup of Softball XII on Saturday at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City.

The Philippine softball team was tied with Mexico, 2-2, until the top of the sixth when they pulled away thanks to Francesca Altomonte, who hit a homer to drive in two runs and seal the win.

“The Blu Girls have been putting up a great fight against some tough opponents in the World Cup of Softball,” said Asaphil president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

“Their performance in this tournament has proven that they are ready to face the toughest international teams, and are continuously improving to prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” he added.
