In the afternoon, individual private sessions were scheduled for local businesses that were ready to scale up.
“I’d like to call this QPitch with BHP Asia as first date with Philippine startups” says April Ong Vaño as she opens and moderates the event. As a champion of the Philippine startup ecosystem, April believes that having platforms like this can greatly help the the local innovation scene.
“Here [in the Philippines] there are a lot of startups with promising ideas, but the access to opportunity of capital is limited. And sometimes it stops there” says Mr. Raul Ocampo of BHP Asia who acknowledges the role of start-ups in nation building.
