JRU rised to 7-4 in the standings, 1.5 games ahead of now solo fourth San Sebastian and a full two games on top of the Knights.

After a sour start to their second round campaign, the Heavy Bombers got right back to work against Letran,  relying on the ever-dependable Teytey Teodoro for a big second-quarter push to take a nine-point lead at the break, 36-27.

JRU would likewise control to second half, leading by as many as 16 before cruising for the victory and handing Letran its third straight defeat.

Five Bombers scored in double figures led by Teodoro and Ervin Grospe who finished with 15 points apiece. Jed Mendoza added 11 points and seven rebounds while Mark Dela Virgen was good for 10.

Gio Lasquety scored nine points for good measure, all in the third period.

Letran’s recent four-game run is no more and the Knights’ latest loss have them on the outside looking in for the Final Four race.

JP Calvo was the high man for Letran, pumping 21 points with 11 coming in the fourth although it wasn’t enough to carry the Knights to victory.

Letran dropped to 5-6 as JRU swept the season series following an earlier 65-62 win in the first round.
