Another rout for San Beda in NCAA juniors football

MANILA, Philippines – Mariano Suba, Jr. unleashed an impressive seven-goal effort to power defending champion San Beda to a 10-0 victory over a hapless Lyceum side in the NCAA Season 93 juniors football tournament on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial grounds.

Suba went to work early, knocking in three of his team’s four goals in the first half. He remained in attack mode in the second, finding the back of the net four more times to help the Junior Red Booters clinch their second straight win.

Samuel Reuben Chavez, Christopher Villanueva, and Roejen Josef Sermese accounted for the other goals of San Beda, which downed Perpetual Help, 6-0, in the opener last Monday.

Letran gained a share of the lead by besting Perpetual Help, 3-0, for its second win in a row.

Nikko Palacio scored a brace while Agustin Rafael Roa added one more goal. All of those goals came in the first half as the Squires held on for the win in the second. St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills came through with four late goals to edge EAC, 5-1, and register its first triumph.

After CSB-LSGH’s’ Vin dela Cruz and EAC’s Michael Gultiano exchanged goals on the 27th and 33rd minute, respectively, to go into the break with the score knotted at one each, Loyd Solo sizzled by scoring three of his squad’s final four goals in the last 22 minutes to pull off the win.

Jethro Borlongan delivered the Junior Blazers’ other late goals.
