“Ang Panday” now a game app » Manila Bulletin Technology

Ever dreamed of fighting evil like Filipino comic hero Panday? Now you can, in a millennial fashion, of course!

The fantasy icon created by Carlo J. Caparas and immortalized by Fernando Poe, Jr. is no longer just a fantasy movie or a TV adaptation but now an action-packed and uniquely Filipino mobile app.

The game application is an exciting way of bringing the legendary hero to the mobile screens of the new generation. This means Panday’s evolution has finally come full circle — from best-selling comic books to movies to TV and now to the digital platform.

The app was developed by CCM creatives in partnership Cosyn Media Tech and powered by Synergy88 Digital Inc., a Philippine-based development company that has shown the potential of Filipino developers specializing also in advertising, art and animation, publishing and marketing. They are the country’s first official Microsoft certified art studio for Gear of Wars 4. They have also done art assets for the multi-awarded game, the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt-Blood and Wine.

“Our vision is to be one of the world’s leading providers/producers of creative digital games and app. Our clients are not our customers. They are our partners,” Synergy88’s Managing Director, Jackie Chua said.

Synergy88, along with its animation company ASI Studio, was also awarded the “Best 2D Animation Show” last December 2016 by the Asian TV Awards in Singapore for “George of the Jungle.”

“Ang Panday” app was conceptualized in support of the 2017 remake of FPJ’s classic, which now has a new face in movie and primetime TV king Coco Martin.

The mobile app coincides with the introduction of Martin as this generation’s Panday. The remake is one of the first entries to be included in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). It will also be Martin’s directorial debut under his real name, Rodel Nacianceno.

The Panday app is a surefire way to win hearts of the new generation as well as appeal to nostalgia for movie fans in the 1980s when four Panday sequels were shown, also during the MMFF.

The Panday game app can be downloaded in iOS and Android devices and will soon be available in time of the MMFF this year.
