MANILA, Philippines – Alyssa Valdez added two more trophies to her collection on Tuesday, after she was named the Most Valuable Player and the First Best Outside Spiker in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.

The former Ateneo de Manila University superstar led the Creamline Cool Smashers to a third-place finish in their very first campaign in the PVL, scoring 16 points including five service aces in their four-set win over the Power Smashers.

This is Valdez’s fourth MVP trophy in the club league. She previously won three MVP awards in the Shakey’s V-League – one as a member of PLDT in the Open Conference, another with the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the Collegiate Conference, and a third with Bureau of Customs in last season’s Reinforced Conference.

“I think this is the very first (MVP) na official na out of college na talaga ako,” Valdez said after the awarding ceremony. “So official na medyo matanda na nga (ako).”

Bali Pure’s Grethcel Soltones was the Second Best Outside Spiker, while Bali Pure’s Risa Sato earned First Best Middle Blocker honors. Jeanette Panaga of the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors was the Second Best Middle Blocker.

Dimdim Pacres of the Power Smashers earned Best Opposite Spiker honors.

Meanwhile, Bali Pure’s Jasmine Nabor was named the Best Setter, earning the award that eluded her in the 2016 Collegiate Conference.

Pocari Sweat veteran Mel Gohing was the Best Libero of the conference.
