OVER 400 football teams from different parts of the country are expected to join the 4th Ceres Cup set in three football fields in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, May 20-21, 2017.

The inaugural staging of Ceres Cup in 2014 attracted 300 teams then it expanded to 408 teams in 2015 and 446 teams last year.

This year, Ceres Cup is expected to set another record-breaking participation at the North Field, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College Football Field and Sta. Maria Football Field in Talisay City.

According to tournament chairman Nicolas Golez, the two-day football festival will feature 14 age group categories.

“Around 350 teams have already registered in the tournament and we are expecting the number to increase,” he added.

Aside from local clubs, a Korean team brought over by former Ceres FC Coach Cha Soong Yong will also participate in the Men’s 40 division.

“Ceres Negros Football Club is humbled by the overwhelming support the Philippine football community has shown to the Ceres Cup throughout the years,” Golez added.

Meanwhile, Ceres FC manager Leo Rey Yanson said the football festival aims to provide football enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment.

“It also seeks to encourage and promote football development in Negros Occidental. We are grateful for this year as more teams supported the event,” shared Yanson.

To ensure the smooth flow of the tournament, transportation will be provided for the different locations.

Top teams, including age group MVPs, will receive trophies and medals at the end of the competition.
