A tectonic earthquake struck off Davao Oriental province on Sunday, July 9, 2017, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 4.0 magnitude earthquake was registered at 10:03 a.m. on Sunday and its epicenter was plotted 204 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental province, with a depth of 60 km.
The tremor was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the agency.
No damage or injury was caused, Phivolcs added.
Earlier, two mild tectonic earthquakes jolted Surigao del Norte and Davao Occidental provinces, Phivolcs said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 2.4 magnitude earthquake registered at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 and its epicenter was plotted 11 kilometers southwest of Libjo (Albor), Surigao del Norte province.
The tremor had a depth of 20 km, it said.
At 12:29 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017, another 3.7 magnitude earthquake was also recorded and its epicenter was traced 131 km southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental province, Phivolcs said.
The earthquake had a depth of 21 km, the agency said.
No aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the agency.
The provincial disaster risk reduction and management councils in affected areas reported no damage or injury.
