More RAM, more life

While we put big importance to battery life and power-efficient processors, we should also give importance to RAM as well. Having more RAM would mean more memory for your apps, which means better multitasking and better overall phone performance. A higher RAM would mean a lot especially if you are running power-hungry games, and they complement with a good processor for a fuss-free gaming experience.

These days, smartphones have an average of 4GB of RAM onboard. However, that does not stop brands to take one step further and equip their phones with 6GB of RAM instead. Check out our list of notable smartphones equipped with an extra oomph of RAM. Do note that we only included those we have reviewed on the site, so if there are other 6GB RAM smartphones you can think of, do give us a heads up.


Doogee Mix

Having 6GB of RAM does not necessarily mean a phone should be expensive. That is the case of the Doogee Mix, as it has 6GB of RAM for Php 12,995. While we have mixed thoughts about the quality of its cameras, the Doogee Mix is no doubt an affordable alternative to the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, which is also on our list.

OPPO F5 Red Edition

While OPPO’s F5 was released with 4GB of RAM, we got confirmation that the Red Edition, which has 6GB of RAM, will be arriving at our shores real soon. The additional 2GB RAM would be a big help in improving the overall performance of the F5, which has earned a positive review from us.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus

Aside from sporting 6GB RAM and a flagship-level MediaTek Helio X30 processor, what makes the Meizu Pro 7 Plus (and its smaller sibling the Pro 7) is its secondary screen at the back of the phone, which is meant for taking selfies with the rear camera.

OnePlus 5

At Php 24,990 for the 6GB/64GB variant, the OnePlus 5 is a definite flagship killer as it boasts of a flagship-level Snapdragon 835 Processor while having a high mid-range price.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2

While the Mi MIX 2 is slightly more expensive than the OnePlus 5, one cannot deny the beauty of the Mi MIX 2’s near-bezel less design, along with a ceramic back. It’s definitely a statement device for those who want an uber-stylish flagship phone.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro

If you fancy a Galaxy S8 but 1) Want a phone with 6GB of RAM, 2) find the Galaxy S8 a bit too expensive, or 3) Don’t mind not having an Infinity Display, the Galaxy C9 Pro is a suitable good alternative for Samsung loyalists who are a bit on a budget.

ASUS ZenFone 4

While it does not boast a flagship processor, the ZenFone 4’s Snapdragon 660 processor can match some flagship phones, and our review says so. Paired with 6GB RAM, the ZenFone 4 is a smooth performer for heavy use like games.

Huawei P10 Plus

While Huawei has released the AI-powered Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, this does not discount the fact that the P10 Plus is a great device that has 6GB of RAM onboard. Add to the fact that its Leica cameras produce stellar images, the P10 Plus is a great multimedia powerhouse even if it is close to a year old already.

While the HTC may be not as popular as other brands mentioned in this listicle, the U11 is also an impressive smartphone, with its gorgeous Liquid Surface back and an impressive camera.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

If you are patient, you might want to wait for the Mate 10 Pro, which offers a gorgeous 18:9 display, along with an AI-equipped Kirin 970 processor. We have been hearing rumors about the Mate 10 Pro coming to our shores, and if Huawei decides to price it aggressively like what it did with the Mate 10, we will not be surprised if this will be the flagship smartphone to beat.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Of course, this list would not be complete without mentioning Samsung’s tour de force smartphone for this year. While the Galaxy Note 8 is very pricey at close to Php 50K, the Note 8 offers the best features Samsung has in mind, from its dual OIS cameras, Iris Scanner, to a revamped S Pen.
